Task
When it came time for the US hit show to come to the UK, Weider Design was tasked with producing a vibrant design to match the on stage sparkle.

Originally filmed at ITV studio Bovingdon using the new 28t mother-grid, installed by Rigger, a number of challenges were posed by the design. The two flanking masks built from steel framework and finished with fibreglass came in at 3.5t each and were built so tall they only just fit within the studio. Added in a large video screen in-between it need a significant planning process to safely hang all the production elements.

Build
Through the planning process it was decided it was only possible to lift one mask as a time due to weight constraints of the studio roof. Following this only once both masks were built and complete would it be possible to build the large video screen. Employing our load weighing technology on all scenic and lighting elements we were able to monitor at all times the load being imposed on the roof, for added assurance of the lifting operation.

This took a significant amount of planning and coordination with other departments to ensure the rest of the load in was able to continue with the scheduling constraints.

After a 7 day load in period, a lot of assistance from all departments involved both masks were in and safely on the floor, ready for the craziness that is the Masked Singer UK to begin.
