Task
The design concept for the show desired to use the full space that the theatre had to offer, bringing the stage along and over the stalls. The challenge was then posed to us to provide a rigging solution that allowed the lighting to continue seamlessly from the normal production space over the stage to the less used auditorium.

To add one more challenge to the mix, the designer wanted several lights to independently lower and raise above the performance space during the show, a task that would be an easy task over the stage, but needed far greater planing to be recreated over the stalls.

Build
Using the limited auditorium rigging along the three lighting bridges, we installed an independent grid to mimic the over stage rigging. This provided a seamless look across both the stage and auditorium so that it couldn't be seen where the stage finished. Weight allowances was limited over the stalls, so we used our load cell system to ensure that we remained with in the venue limits.

Upon investigation it was decided that combining the existing theatre fly system with a separate automation system for the independently moving fixtures would be too unreliable. So it was decided to install a completely new system across both the stage and auditorium. With winches installed in the first circle and on the fly floors, the system allowed consistent movement for all areas of the performance.
